CHARACTER INFO
Name:EpieiKeia216 Castorice
Canon: Honkai: Star Rail
Canon Point: End of 3.7
Age: ~1000
Species:Binary CodeElf? Creature? We just don’t know
History:
In Castorice’s previous life, she had a twin sister named Polyxia. In order for her sister to assume the role of demigod of death, Castorice sacrificed herself for her sister.
In turn, when Phase Four of the Amphoreus Experiment began, Polyxia — now the Titan known as Thanatos — took Castorice's soul and delivered her to the new world on the back of a dragon (known as Pollux). The dragon arrived in Styxia, bringing ruin with her presence, while Castorice was eventually cut free from the dragon once it was slain. In the process, they realized that she was cursed, and that her touch brought death. In the hopes of ensuring Castorice learn to accept death rather than fear it, she was given to a group of people who venerated death.
Over the course of this first life, Castorice would indeed learn to accept her role as the demigod of death (though not without struggles), thanks to meeting the rest of her fellow Chrysos Heirs and befriending them. However, she would ultimately relive this life over and over again, thanks to Phainon and Cyrene’s decision to create an infinite loop (or create what would become known as “eternal recurrences”) in order to save Amphoreus. Notably, though, in cycle #2,003,432, Castorice directly faces off with Phainon (known as Khaslana). However, it is also implied that this has happened multiple times, and that it would happen again.
On the 33,550,336th loop, the story changes. The Trailblazer arrives, and Castorice realizes that something is off about them — she can make contact with them without killing them. This is result of the Trailblazer technically dying on their arrival. They will eventually succumb to their mortality. As a result, Castorice strikes a deal with Anaxa and the Elders to figure out the path to find Thanatos, and she sets out for Styxia. In the dead city, she meets Pollux again, now in a weakened, half-dead state. After slaying the dragon, she assumes the coreflame of death, though she remains stuck within the netherworld. Though she lends her aid to the “final” battle, she is not present to learn the truth.
After this, the loop once again resets. In this final recurrence, Castorice briefly takes over leadership of her fellow Chrysos Heirs after the death of their former leader. Castorice leads for about ~40 years and fights back against Lygus, then becomes the demigod of death and hands leadership off to the remaining heirs as she departs for the underworld.
With this successful recurrence, and with Era Nova triggered, Castorice becomes the true Titan of Death and awaits her friends in the Ruins of Time. Thanks to Cyrene and the Trailblazer’s new framing of her story, she has now been granted "the right to embrace" and "warm new life" blossoms from her fingertips, relieving her of her curse.
Personality:
✽ What is your character's main motivation? What drives them and keeps them going?
For the longest time, Castorice’s main motivation was to end the course of death and ensure no one else would ever have to die. After having served as an executioner and euthanizer time and time again, the idea of any sort of death was devastating to her. She would eventually learn that these things are natural, but also that her life was never meant to be this way. As a result, her focus has shifted to maintaining balance and the natural order, which included freeing Amphoreus from its recurrences, saving Phainon, and giving her home a true chance at life.
✽ What is their biggest regret? Why?
Over the course of those many million recurrences, Castorice was helpless to prevent Phainon from walking the path that he did. She wanted nothing more than for him to peacefully rest. Though they fought countless times, they always resulted in her demise and his continuation down his blighted path.
That she was never able to put things right for him, and that he suffered for what likely amounted to billions of years continues to not sit right for her. She feels that she failed her closest friend.
✽ What is their worst fear? Their greatest comfort?
At this point in canon, Castorice’s biggest fear is that everything will start over again, and that their briefly found peace is but another trap. It’s unreasonable, considering all that she witnessed, but hey. You live 33 million lives in a cycle, you learn to fear not being able to break free of that.
Her greatest comfort is a person — Phainon specifically. Through her friendship with him, Castorice was almost able to forget her curse. That being said, I think you could extend this logic to pertain to all of her friends for the sense of normalcy they gave her.
✽ Top three strengths?
- Command Over Death. Regardless of Castorice’s feelings on the matter, she was a very valuable ally and, at times, tool. Even if she did not relish being used for such a case, Castorice’s ability was essential to Aglaea’s efforts to ensure the Express Crew’s trustworthiness.
- Empathetic. Rather than becoming detached or apathetic to the people she came across due to her role, she remained compassionate toward their plight. While this compassion worked to her detriment in some degree, fueling continued fear of death and leading her to believe that death itself should be undone, it still came from a place of love and kindness. She would do a great deal for many people. Indeed, even in spite of knowing how many times Phainon had killed her and the others, she only wanted him to find peace.
- Resilient: Despite the circumstances of her curse, Castorice nevertheless sought to live her life and adapt to her circumstances. Whether it was crafting a flute out of dromas bone in order to make contact with the species, or painting the faces of the dead to present them as beautiful, she made the best of whatever hand she was dealt in order to keep moving forward.
✽ Top three weaknesses?
- Limited self-worth. In Castorice’s words, "Apart from my identity, there's nothing about me worthy of praise.” While she has indeed grown to accept parts of herself and her identity, there are other places where she feels lacking. When death was called “ugly,” she seemingly took it apart, choosing to present herself in as beautiful and elegant of a way as possible. Despite writing poetry for years, it took her quite some time to feel worthy enough to share these poems. Of course, it didn’t help that one of these poems was based on a “misinterpretation” of the relationship between her friends, and resulted in her work being laughed at.
(She wasn’t wrong.)
- Reserved. At times, Castorice is reluctant to voice her own opinion above others, and will often defer to their command. This resulted in the aforementioned incident in which she was pitted against the Trailblazer. Rather than vocalize her own wishes, she delayed assistance by reaching out to Phainon to get help.
- Socially Inept. Between the fear of others, as well as Castorice’s fear of herself, she often stayed isolated from others. Her pages in As I’ve Written indicate that she practiced her words by talking to tea cups and stuffed animals, rather than actual people. More than that, she actively distanced herself physically from people. She’s not used to being in big groups, physical contact, or anything like that.
✽ What was their last lie?
Trailblazer, I'm sorry you had to witness this.. She wasn’t sorry. She was having a good time.
Inventory:
- One Castorice sized scythe. :)
- A teleslate, aka a smartphone. Don’t worry, she’s used to it being without service.
- Pollux, a massive* dragon that Castorice summons by ripping a hole through reality. Sometimes she pops her head through for scritches.
- A notebook of her own poems
- A handmade Chimera plushie.
*I talked to Wolfie and we agreed that in whatever capacity Pollux is allowed, she will no longer be massive but horse sized. And sometimes hang out at the barn. That being said, I will link this thread with Morrigan
Abilities:
- Combat training: While not meant for the heart of the battlefield, Castorice can fend for herself by fighting with her scythe and wielding her quantum (chaotic) powers.
- Summon: After slicing a hole between the realms of life and death, Castorice summons Netherwing Pollux, who uses a quantum breath attack on enemies.
- Aura Maxxing: Or rather, summons the aura of death around her, actively repelling smaller enemies or rendering them unconscious. She can then easily finish the battle with her scythe.
- Moon Coccoon: Defined as “once per battle,” Castorice is able to save an ally from an attack (or multiple allies if it’s a single attack). In game, they don’t have HP and still need to be shielded or healed, so it’s more like… being stabilized after succeeding on your death saving throws, but defenseless.
- Immortality: Castorice is seemingly capable of living forever, having already racked up at least a thousand years of life. However, she is not invincible, and has been shown to be killed a handful of times. Everyone say thanks, Phainon!
- Sense of life and death. Able to detect the feeling or presence of where things have died, while also picking up whether or not a person is alive. Requires some level of focus, but people who have died excessively do kind of stand out to her

MOD NERFS + BUFFS
Date: 2026-05-07 08:54 pm (UTC)- Auramaxxing will be slightly nerfed: She can only use this up to 3 times a month to render enemies unconscious. Let me know if this seems unfair. The reason for this is just because our healing magic tree has an enemy repulsing thing that is once per month, since it's kind of an OP ability in a game that deals with monster battles sometimes.
- If I'm understanding Moon Cocoon right, it seems like it's akin to what D&D 5E calls Revivify (where you can stabilize a creature that dips below 1 HP and prevent them from dying). Poke me if this is incorrect. Death is not necessarily preventable here as you know, at least not without Tier 5 healing or one of Aurora's feathers, so this ability may not work here. Again, poke me if I'm misunderstanding and we can hash this out. This is Wolfie idk if it's obvious.
- Thanks Phainon! And her ability to be killed shall continue in Sticks. Inshallah.
